SilverX 1.5 product line has just been released and is now available for download. The new version introduces the following features:

  • Support for Expression Blend 4 and Silverlight 4 output
  • Output to WPF and Windows Phone platform
  • Major XAML readability improvements and reduced XAML size
  • Dramatically increased performance and reduced memory usage
  • SilverX is now fully managed .NET application

We split SilverX up into two different products SilverX and SilverX Expression to best serve people with  different requirements. The descriptions below explain the differences between the two products.

SilverX is a standalone application  for converting simple Flash movies to Silverlight/WPF, extracting Flash media (graphics, vector art, sound and animations) in Silverlight/WPF-compatible format or converting Flash movie into Visual Studio project.

SilverX Expression is a Microsoft Expression Blend addin for  importing Flash assets into Expression Blend project. SlverX Expression facilitates importing entire Flash movie into the project with an opportunity to tune the Flash to Silverlight conversion settings. We believe that we have improved import/migration experience by providing more import options:

  • Flash assets preview, select and import Flash assets
  • Media format and quality settings
  • XAML generation settings – formatting, composition
  • Give names to imported elements, automatic naming options
  • Import individual Flash frames and more

We made SilverX available in two editions to meet the needs of different audiences. At the same time the core functionality is basically the same in both products, that is why currently they also have the same price.

SilverX products are now distributed as trial installer packages with no functionality restrictions. Product trial time is 14 days. We still provide free non-commercial SilverX licenses, so if you are going to use SilverX for non-profit purposes please feel free to contact us.

Now we are working on SilverX Expression 2.0 which will make Flash to Silverlight migration process in Expression Blend more flexible and convenient. In the beginning of 2011 we plan to start working on support of ActionScript 3 conversion and Flash runtime emulation in Silverlight.

We hope you will enjoy this release, and please feel free to post your comments or contact us directly. Your opinion is very important for us, and we will highly appreciate any of your feedback.
